The bathroom can be considered as everyone’s personal space. It’s that one place in the house where one can experience seclusion, relaxation, and peace all at the same time. That’s the reason why painting the bathroom with the right shades is very important. You want to keep it a place of total calmness unless of course, you view your bathroom rather differently.

Bathroom Painting

Keep in mind that the bathroom is one of the most used areas of your home. It’s essential to use a color that everyone likes. Also, it is best if the bathroom painting job is handled by a professional. That way, you can be sure that you’ll get exactly the results that you wanted.

How to Choose a Color

When it comes to bathrooms, neutral colors are the best. Light colors are ideal, although there are dark shades that may just look just as good. Just be sure that they don’t look too vibrant and striking. Use color swatches and narrow down your choices to only three to five shades. Test the colors in various parts of the bathroom to see how they look during the day and night. Then pick the one that suits your taste.

It’s also crucial that you choose the right type of bathroom paint. You normally have to choose between glossy, semi-gloss, satin, and matte finishes. Satin paint formulas are ideal for those areas highly exposed to moisture as this type of paint can resist the growth of mildew. As for the rest, semi-gloss paint is highly recommended.

Get Everything Ready

Once you’ve chosen the ideal shade and the right type of paint, you’re ready to get the project started. While bathroom painting is still a job best delegated to a professional, nobody’s stopping you from handling the project yourself if that’s what you really want.

Before getting started, you need to do all the prep work. First, gather all materials needed for the job, such as a paint roller, tray, paintbrush, painter’s tape, sandpaper, patch, tarp, and flathead screwdriver. Never attempt to start anything without making sure that you have all these items within reach.

Start the Paint Job

With everything prepared, you should be ready to get started. The first thing you have to do is to remove the plates on all electrical sockets and light switches. After that, clean the walls with water and detergent. Wait for the wall to dry before placing painter’s tape to the baseboard for seamless horizontal painting. If you see any holes or imperfections on the wall, sand and patch them accordingly. If you think the wall is ready, lay down the tarp on the floor to protect it from accidental drips and spills.

Now start painting. Use the paintbrush to start painting all the edges of the wall. Once that’s done, use the paint roller to cover all the rest. Wait for the first coat to dry before applying the next. Two coatings are usually enough, but if you think you need to add one more, do so. After everything’s done, congratulate yourself on a job well done!
